VCMUN is committed to upholding principles of equity both in committee, and during the awards process.

In the eventuality that any problems related to equity occur at any time during the conference, be sure to contact the Secretariat - all concerns will be taken seriously and resolved with due diligence.
A Letter from the Director of Equity

Vanier College Model United Nations 2025 conference is committed to fostering a safe and inclusive environment to allow for professional and constructive debate. We hope VCMUN 2025 will be an enjoyable and fun experience for all delegates, and to ensure this we have put in place strict equity guidelines and any violations will be taken very seriously.

Please be aware that if you are found to have violated the equity guidelines in any way, the secretariat reserves the right to take any disciplinary measures they see fit. Measures include verbal warning, disqualification from awards, suspension from committee session and in extreme case scenarios, expulsion from the conference.

Equity violations include but are not limited to:
· Discrimination based on race, gender, religion, age, disability, nationality and sexual orientation is strictly forbidden and will not be tolerated.
· All forms of discriminatory and offensive speech and behavior such as homophobic, transphobic and harmful language or actions towards members of the LGBTQ+ community.
· All forms of discriminatory and offensive speech and behavior such as sexist or misogynist language or actions.
· All forms of discriminatory and offensive speech and behavior such racist, Islamophobic, xenophobic or antisemitic language or actions.
Sexual harassment of any kind is strictly forbidden, this includes unwanted sexual advances, comments or gestures.
· Any speech or behavior deemed inequitable by the Dais and secretariat.

Please note that these guidelines apply not only to delegates and staff outside of committee sessions, but also within committee sessions. All crisis notes, speeches, directives and resolutions will be monitored for any equity violations. Please keep in mind that while you are representing a character or country, you must do so in the utmost respect towards your character or country, other characters or countries and the context of the committee.

· It is strictly forbidden to pass directives ,speeches, crisis arcs and resolutions that encourages neo-colonialist or imperialist acts or views, and the suffering of noncombatants through excessive violence towards that could potentially lead to genocide.
· Please show respect to the causes you are debating and do not attempt to trivialize or make fun of the sensitive topics delt with in your committee, such as genocide, war, oppression, discrimination and any form of sexual aggressions.

If you would like to report an equity violation, please feel at ease to communicate with your chair or any member of the secretariat and we will make sure the problem is resolved.
​
These equity guidelines are put in place to ensure the wellbeing of all delegates and staff members during our conference. It is our top priority that VCMUN 2025 is an enjoyable and equitable conference. We strongly encourage you to follow our guidelines and we wish you all an amazing weekend of fun and debate.
