UNICEF:
Preventing Child Endangerment and Exploitation
About the committee
Around the world, childhoods are being robbed for the sake of exploitative labour and to be used as fuel for corporations. These children are being subjected to mental and physical harm because they are burdened with the responsibility of supporting their families.
The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund was established in 1946 to support children affected by World War II. Following 1950, its focus evolved to a more global approach, and UNICEF now provides and advocates for education, health, and nutrition services worldwide. UNICEF strives to protect children from violence, abuse, disease, and poverty.
In this committee, delegates must work together to create protection systems for children, propose ideas for financial support mechanisms, and discuss responsibility for children’s well-being on a global scale. Children are our future; they deserve education, health, and, most importantly, they deserve to be kids. As a delegate in a UNICEF committee, your job is to ensure children grow up in a stable environment.
